BREAST

Breast uptake of bone agents is a common finding, but it is nonspecific, as it is seen in normal breasts as well as in those with benign and malignant disease . The exact mechanism of uptake is uncertain, but it has been related to high tissue calcium levels or to binding to receptor site of acid phosphatase.

Breast Uptake

Normal Breast Uptake

Normal breast.

Bone scintigram shows bilateral symmetrical uptake in normal breasts.

Breast Ca

Breast carcinoma.

The bone scintigram shows intense softtissue uptake in a large carcinoma of the left breast. Calcifications in the mass were present on xeromammogram.
